More than an Easter egg, this pure silver pysanka coin (our fifth) is a celebration of life and the season of new beginnings. Its colour motifs, like the eight-pointed rose, are every bit as meaningful as those written on traditional pysanky, where intricate shapes and geometric patterns form a captivating visual language. It’s an uplifting celebration of spring, and it’s yours to enjoy year-round!
Designed by Canadian artist Dave Melnychuk, the pysanka features a main band (bezkonechnyk) that deals with matters of the eternal. The eight-pointed roses represent the heart and a heightened state of awareness, while the stars represent the illuminating powers of the sun. Two neighbouring bands feature plant-inspired symbols and the seeds that make rejuvenation and rebirth possible. The waves along the outer edges are the water-based symbols of fluidity. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
